Koji

FOUNDER

Celebrated for his cutting-edge style and flawless color technique, hair stylist Koji Toyoda’s undeniable craft is no surprise given his extensive training in the art of hair design and color and a lifetime immersed in the discipline of Japanese hairstyling. Born and raised in Japan, Koji comes from a long line of renowned Japanese hairstylists, and he began his professional career at just 18, studying among the top artists in Japan and becoming an established stylist himself by the age of 20. During his six-year stint in Tokyo, Koji worked in salons and freelanced, perfecting his skills on celebrities and musicians alike, earning recognition from magazines and television programs for creating some of the most fashionable hairstyles of the year, as well as praise for promotional work with Christian Dior and Shu Uemura. In search of a greater creative challenge, Koji moved to Los Angeles, where he began his American career at a prestigious West Hollywood salon and quickly gained national recognition and acclaim for original hair designs for celebrities and models. His work has since extended to Vanity Fair hair styling, Academy Award and Oscar red carpet hair styling—work he has been doing for years and continues to do every year—while also consistently working behind the scenes on sets, creating original looks for actors and shaping Hollywood character styling over many years. In 2004, Koji opened his hair studio, KOJI TOYODA AT KINARA, which flourished for seven years, and in 2011, he opened his salon in Sunset Plaza to focus entirely on hair, solidifying a career defined by artistry, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence that continues to inspire both clients and the industry at large.

takeshi

Originally from Japan, master stylist and colorist Takeshi spent the first 5 years of his career in Tokyo. He moved to Los Angeles in 1986 and has been styling here ever since. Through his 25 years of experience, he has mastered a variety of looks from natural hair to the latest in vogue styles. His repertoire ranges from cuts to color to natural-looking permanents. His clients range from the super curly to the super straight and everything in between. There isn’t a hair texture or hairstyle that Takeshi hasn’t mastered. After co-owning his successful salon for over 10 years, Takeshi decided to make the move to give himself a new challenge. With the new space, Takeshi can offer even more services, amenities, and customer satisfaction to his clients. His clients love the new environment and have already made themselves at home at the new salon. With all his knowledge and experience, he is still very passionate about styling and educating the next generation of stylists.

miwa

Miwa moved to Los Angeles from Japan in the 90s and immediately enrolled in cosmetology school. Since then, she has been trained under master stylist Takeshi and worked at his salon for many years, perfecting her skills as a stylist. Through the years, she has developed an excellent reputation with her clients. Although she has a vast range as a stylist, her expertise lies in men’s grooming, scalp treatments, and Japanese hair straightening.

yuya

Yuya Kane first earned his cosmetology license in California, then returned to Japan to refine his skills. After six years of training at Red Heads (Gifu, Japan), he transitioned to freelance work, where he discovered the art of Japanese head spa- a scalp treatment focused on relaxation and hair health. Yuya has since mastered his head spa techniques and is passionate about introducing this practice to clients in the U.S. Since returning in 2018, he has worked as a hairstylist for salons and fashion magazines. He loves creating natural, effortless styles and is dedicated to perfecting haircuts that enhance each client’s unique features, called “Omakase.” He specializes in the Tokyo Inkarami Treatment.

A Los Angeles native, Rob was raised in a full-service salon environment, surrounded by stylists deeply rooted in the beauty industry. From an early age, he developed a natural understanding of hair, client care, and the artistry behind great style.

Rob specializes in hair extensions, keratin treatments, blow-dry styling, and dimensional color. Known for his attention to detail and refined finishing work, he brings a thoughtful, customized approach to every service.
